Google TiSP: Free internet for some wasted … waste.

Oh google, you revolutionary revolutionary. Check this out.

Finally, something extremely valuable for the most invaluable thing in the world. Not only do you get free internet, but check out this Advanced Feature:

Professional Installation Service
You can also choose to request our professional installation service, which dispatches an army of factory-trained, sub-contracted nanobots from the TiSP Access Node. The nanobots travel with exhilarating nano-speed through the sewer system and into your home to perform the installation service, which should be complete within 15 minutes. Note: For your own physical safety and emotional well-being and in consideration of the nanobots’ working conditions, please make absolutely certain that your toilet is unoccupied at the scheduled appointment time.

Wow, nanotechnology at your bathroom-step! I like the tidbit about the working condition of those nanobots. They probably have some kind of worker’s union so be careful people.

Happy first of April folks, and especially Matt – don’t drink and drive!

Spring Break Part 1: Chinatown, basketball and a baby on a motorcycle.

Spring break has been local for me. Like I said in the other post, SF is a great escape when my other (more elaborate) plans fall through or are planned completely too late. Since this plan was dead from the get-go, SF IT IS!

So, the basic summary of what occured: video games, food, Scrubs – not necessarily in that order.

Full tantilizing tale after the jump!

I have a hole in my gums now and other Spring Break plans.

I went to the dentist today. It was supposed to be one of those regular scrap the plaque off my teeth then put that weird-tasting enamel protector crap on appointments. It did not end that way.

First of all, the dentist suggested that I get some braces and she recommended the Invisalign ones. Mmm, clear socially-harmless teeth correction. All for a low price of 4 to 6 grand. I think I’ll sleep on that one and perhaps call up the health insurance folks.

After the consulting, she said that I should pull one of my wisdom teeth (apparently tooth #16 on the dentist-teeth-map) since it grew out a little already. I said “f-it” and gave her the okay since I figure Spring break is a great time to recover.

Full tale after the jumpage.

Invader Zim: a review of doooom!

So I’m watching a cartoon that originally aired on Nickelodeon. Sure, it’s quite childish but this isn’t any normal cartoon. Invader Zim is quite the genius creation. Sadly, like other awesome shows that are not quite popular culture, like Firefly, it only aired for one and a half seasons. It is quite a shame.

I think the show deserves some analysis because it has been a while since such a child-oriented show brought me so much joy, wonder and absolute entertainment.

So, take the jump if you are into the darker side of the Saturday morning cartoons.

A quick cut for the jump since this post is purely personal.

Midterms are over, spring break begins, the cycle is anew!eley

Midterms are over, people everywhere are rejoicing – some drinking, some eating, some playing inhuman amounts of video games. What am I doing? I suppose a bit of everything.

Midterms went well I suppose. I missed two small tidbits on the econ midterm and was off by one hundred years for the time period of Olympe de Gouge and wrote one strange yet structured essay on the role of government in economic/social stratification through history. I think I spelled stratification wrong forty times. I hope that does not factor into the grade. Oh well, what’s past is past!

Spring break is upon us. We have one whole week to do homework due on the week after spring break, hurray!

What to do, what to do? If you guys don’t give me some ideas, I’m just going to SF for three or four days – so, IDEAS!

Sometimes, life just throws everything at you at once.

Sometimes, it just has to be that way.

But there’s always some hope in the destruction and chaos. It is not as if you lose your past, but instead, you build upon the lessons learned. This week has really been a low point in my life. Academic and personal shocks have been relentless and I know if I were a year younger, this would have completely destroyed any hope of normalcy in day to day life.

Take the jump if you’re like a brother/sister to me.

300.

Historically accurate? Not really.

A stimulating plot filled with twists and turns and life lessons? Unless you consider a completely linear plot creative, then no.

Mind-blowing? Oh. A resounding yes.

Review-like block of text after the jump.

Midterm week has arrived: hell hath no fury like a bluebook

I know there’s a trillion kids trying to get into Cal. Sure, it’s got a reputable academic background and parking spaces labeled NL for nobel laureate. That’s all cinnamon and baby blankets but there’s a harsh, cold side to Cal that few freshman can gracefully handle.

I hear the Cal GPA is respected in the post-graduate and entry-level job markets. It better be. The competition at Cal, especially if you join one of the popular majors, is throat slitting. We keep a friendly demeanor during lectures throughout the semester but come test time, we are all trying to beat the curve. And what a curve! One or two wrong answers can mean the difference between entire grades for a semester.

More random ranting after the jump – probably not worth your time, or is it?

On Castro Valley: A substantial analysis

In light of so much interest on the post How we got [kinda] screwed by a garage door repairman, I decided to make an introductory post for Castro Valley. Commentors have said that my posts are not substantial and backed up by good sources. I agree. Therefore, let me give you my impression of the town with substantial backup sources. You may not agree with what I have to say and I would be happy to listen to your retorts – as long is they don’t have the obviously racist tones some of the comments have carried. Shall we?
